There's a lot we could talk about
Between plants, homes, technology, products and new ideas, there's no shortage of things Spacelo could cover.
The harder question is deciding what's actually worth talking about.
Something doesn't need to be completely new or revolutionary to catch our attention. It might solve an everyday problem particularly well, make better use of something people already have or simply approach a familiar idea in a different way.
Sometimes we'll also explore something just because it's interesting and we think it's worth a closer look.
That's really where our selection process starts.
Useful matters more than hype
New products and trends appear constantly, particularly when it comes to technology and the home. Some can genuinely make life easier. Others might be clever without being especially useful.
We want to look beyond the headline or marketing claims and ask simpler questions.
What does it actually do? Who might find it useful? Does it solve a real problem? Is there a simpler alternative?
The answer won't always be the same for everyone. Something that makes perfect sense in one home might be unnecessary in another.
Our job isn't to tell everyone what they should buy or how their home should look. It's to provide enough useful information and perspective to help people decide what works for them.
Good ideas don't need a big price tag
We're interested in everything from simple household ideas to the latest home technology. Naturally, some of the newer or more advanced products we explore will come with a higher price tag.
Homes, budgets and priorities are different, so we don't want Spacelo to focus on just one end of the market. Sometimes we'll look at affordable ways to solve a problem, while other times we might explore something aimed at people who have more to spend or simply want to see what the latest technology can do.
Price also isn't what makes something worth featuring. A £10 solution to an annoying household problem could be every bit as interesting as a sophisticated piece of smart-home technology costing hundreds or even thousands.
Where price matters, we'll try to consider what you're actually getting for the money and, where it makes sense, whether there are simpler or more affordable ways of achieving a similar result.
The same applies beyond products. A clever way of arranging a small room, an interesting growing method or a simple change to an everyday routine might be worth exploring too.
If something can make a home work better, we're interested.
Being clear about how something reached us
As Spacelo grows, some of the things we feature may be products we've bought ourselves, products or services sent to us for testing, collaborations, or links that earn Spacelo a commission.
When that's the case, we'll make it clear.
Receiving a product, working with a company or using an affiliate link won't automatically make something good. Our approach remains the same: look at what it offers, what works, what could be better and who it might actually suit.
We want commercial relationships to support what we're building without deciding what we're allowed to say about it.
Sometimes interesting is enough
Not everything on Spacelo needs to solve an urgent problem.
Part of the reason the site exists is to explore what's happening around the home — unusual designs, new technology, different ways of growing and ideas about how our living spaces might change.
Some will become everyday solutions. Some might not.
But if something makes us stop and think “that's interesting”, there's a reasonable chance we'll want to take a closer look.
